Please note that a crest is the emblem above the ‘helm’ on a coat of arms. Frequently people make the mistake of calling a coat of arms a crest, this is not so. The crest is only the image above the helm and it is normally mounted on a torse (a rope wreath) or a coronet in the case of nobility.
